Austin, Texas - (July 1, 2008) - Austin band, ALIENS announce dates for their first national tour. Blake
Sandberg, founder, artist, writer, and guitarist said, "ALIENS 'Head First Tour' will begin this summer
in Dallas, Texas on July 6, ending in Los Angeles on August 27, 2008."
Not "THE ALIENS" - ALIENS began in 2002, recording first in 2003. ALIENS played CBGB in 2005,
before "THE ALIENS" (UK) began to use the name. So the "THE" holds a big distinction. Blake said,
"I would never write a song called "I Am The Robot Man," so there should be little confusion."
ALIENS Head First released at the end of 2007 has gathered reviews in ALARM magazine,
SOUNDCHECK magazine, The AUSTIN CHRONICLE, as well as numerous Blog reviews.
ALIENS have been called "A visceral attack, pogo-worthy" by the AUSTIN CHRONICLE. SOUNDCHECK
said, (ALIENS are)"single-handedly bringing something gritty back to our local music scene that has
been sorely missed." AUSTIN SOUND'S John-Michael Cassettas said, "ALIENS vocals sound
almost(like)an REM record," then the guitars come in and "leave Peter Buck in the dust."
VERBICIDE magazine named ALIENS the "Number 3 unsigned punk band."
ALIENS are essentially Blake and a drummer - a duo. The core of ALIENS sound is the guitar. Blake
runs his guitar into both the bass and guitar amp. By using OCTAVE pedals he could uniquely create
a bass sound simultaneously with the live guitar sound. With this system and a drummer the sound
IS that of a three piece band! ALIENS also use a drum machine, loops, turntables, and sound effects
in the live show.
The Head First album has been on the CMJ "TOP 200" for three weeks - which is remarkable without
an advertising campaign. ALIENS will tour the nation this summer, the "Head First Tour" begins July
6th through August 27.
